Academy Consultation

The Governors of The North Halifax Grammar School have announced that it is to ask staff, students, parents and the community to give their views on whether the school should become an Academy.

The consultation process, which will run for four weeks, will discuss the implications for the school’s future and seek answers to specific questions from the Department for Education.

Graham Maslen, Head Teacher of the North Halifax Grammar School, said:
“I felt it was important that we talk to as many people as possible to get their thoughts on whether they think the school should become an Academy in the future.

It is important to stress that no decisions have been taken, the consultation that takes places over the coming weeks will determine the outcome.”

Jacqueline Kershaw, Chair of the Governing Body at the North Halifax Grammar School, added: “The Government has recently opened up Academy Status to all schools and we feel that it is only right to explore the implications for the school of becoming an Academy.
The North Halifax Grammar School is committed to serving the community in Calderdale and we want to ensure that we continue to provide a first class education in the future.

I would encourage all staff, students and parents, and other individuals or organisations with an interest in the school to let us know their views so that the consultation is as wide as possible and the decision reached is the right one for the school.”

The consultation runs until February 11th 2011.
