YEAR 8 RESIDENTIAL VISIT TO NORMANDY
 
Every year, the whole of Year 8 spend a week in Normandy.  The group stay at the Château du Molay, 14km. to the west of Bayeux and 15 km. from the coast and D-Day landing beaches.

The objectives for the visit are:
 
- to promote European awareness through “immersion” in another European country
- to promote the appreciation of a different country, culture and language
- to stimulate and motivate pupils in achieving curricular goals in the National Curriculum subjects
  through planned and structured excursions in Normandy
- to provide a safe, secure and interesting environment for pupils to develop personally and socially.
 

Itinerary for 2011:

What we are doing this week:
 
Sunday 10th July – Journey to the chateau stopping at Honfleur
 
Monday 11th July – Visits to Bayeux tapestry, Bayeux cathedral and the British Military cemetery.
 
Tuesday 12th July – Visits to Arromanches D-Day museum, Arromanches 360 cinema and the gun battery at Longues sur Mer
 
Wednesday 13th July – Visits to the Caen Memorial museum, the American military cemetery and the German military cemetery
 
Thursday 14th July – Visits to the market at Ste Mere Eglis and La Cite de la Mer, Cherbourg
 
Friday 15th July – Departure and return journey to Halifax
